Basso Diamante 40th Anniversary Ultegra Di2 Mens Road Bike - 2017

Can be purchased using Cycle to work

When Alcide built his first bicycle in 1977 in his father’s garage, “Basso” was only his family name. However, he was already aware of the DNA he carried and got the ultimate inspiration and motivation from his brother, Marino Basso, who won the World Cycling Championship in 1972.

40 years later and Basso are an outstanding brand who is immensely proud of their bicycles. Even though they are not located in a garage anymore, they still do the entire production in their own factory in Italy.

The inspiration of the design for this bicycle comes from the 1982 GAP model. They adapted it to today’s trends, blended with the technology of Diamante which is famous with its all-round bicycle characteristics. You will notice the use of the small logos, and details on particular parts of the frame such as seat stays and fork crown. The weight of the frame is 780g without the special chrome paint on it.

There are 400 pieces of this frame and all the lucky owners of it will get a certification, which includes the wet signature of Alcide Basso.

The limited edition Basso Diamante 40th Anniversary Ultegra Di2 Mens Road Bike is built around the Basso Diamante frameset, which is manufactured from Toray T1000 and T800 Hi Modulus carbon fibre pre-preg. This is widely used in the automotive, aviation and military industries, and this particular Toray is made even more resistant to impacts and fatigue stress through use of specific proprietary resins.

The monolithic front frame section, made by the semi-integrated front fork, frame, stem and headset provides a more aerodynamic and aggressive position. Comfort Fit allows you to raise the handlebars by 2cm via conical shaped spacers for a more comfortable and forgiving ride whilst maintaining the frames rigid characteristics.

It is assembled with a full Shimano Ultegra Di2 groupset, providing it with 22 gears and performance that have been proven time and time again. It is equipped with carbon fibre Microtech M150 clincher kitted out with tan wall tyres. Finishing kit is provided by Basso’s Microtech range, including carbon fibre handlebars and seatpost, and is finished with a San Marco saddle.
