The foundation body (Spider), the lockring, and the largest sprocket, for example, are made of lightweight aluminium. The remaining gear, on the other hand, is composed of steel, which not only decreases wear but also increases rigidity, allowing the entire force to be converted into acceleration.

The distinctively designed HYPERGLIDE sprockets incorporate specially positioned shift ramps and tooth profiles for improved chain control during shifting. Fast and responsive indexed shifting is the result.
